Decarbonisation Summit 2022 - Science and Industry Museum, Manchester
MANCHESTER has been chosen for an industry-led Decarbonisation Summit on the 7 and 8 June, following the success of the inaugural summit during COP26 in Glasgow last November.
SSE Energy Solutions, in partnership with Green TV, will bring the summit to the city where panels will include a Mayors Leadership Group, with representatives from across the UK and Ireland, including Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.
Leading industry figures and elected representatives will be among those meeting to discuss and action decarbonisation plans for cities and regions across the British Isles, in the first post-COP26 Decarbonisation Summit.
On day one of the summit, the Mayors Leadership Group including representatives from regions including Greater Manchester, Liverpool city region, Befast, and Dublin will meet to discuss how they can collaborate to accelerate net zero across transport, energy and heat in their regions.
Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, who called the first Decarbonisation Summit “One of the best discussions I’ve had at COP 26,” will return to the 2022 summit taking place in the very city region he represents, alongside counterparts from across the UK and Ireland.
The summit will take place at the Science and Industry Museum, Manchester, a venue on its own journey toward decarbonisation following £4.3million funding from the UK Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
The summit will see discussions from industry experts on topics including working towards environmental sustainability in cities, maximising new renewable technologies, job sustainability, and much more. The summit itself will be decarbonised by Zellar, which will work with event organisers to prioritise and action sustainability over the two days.
