Glasgow Harbour is one of the biggest urban regeneration projects in the UK. Close to the city’s bustling West End, the 130 acre site includes hundreds of new homes as well as superb public buildings.* We’re powering that masterplan – not just with energy – but with investment.

We won the tender for the Glasgow Harbour masterplan against stiff competition. We’ve been energising the area, quite literally. We brought in high voltage connections. We added domestic electricity and gas.

We dealt with the wayleave issues. But more than that, we put significant funding into the network. As part of SSE, we bring 50 years of technical experience in building and running power networks. But we also bring financial muscle. We can create – not just the connections you need – but attractive, long-term benefits to minimise development costs.

Glasgow’s famous Riverside Museum: Scotland’s Museum of Transport and Travel. Designed by Zaha Hadid. Engineered by Buro Happold. Energised by SSE Enterprise.

SSE Enterprise is no ordinary utilities infrastructure partner. We’re part of one of the UK’s leading, longest-established energy companies. (The one that’s also the UK’s biggest ‘living wage’ employer.)

We’re proud to be part of the effort to regenerate Glasgow’s historic harbour area. It’s a massive project, estimated to cost £1.2 billion in total, including residential, retail, leisure and commercial development.

We’ve got the power

For Glasgow Harbour, we’re proud to provide a host of essential services:

  • HV connections / LV cabling
  • Domestic connections
  • Civil works and gas networks
  • Safety, legal and compliance
  • Smart financial structures

We have over 50 years experience in building utility networks. Year in, year out, our teams develop utilities networks which cover vast swathes of the UK.

As you’d expect, we have the unrivalled technical expertise, resources and manpower to deliver from design to final handover.

Financial strength

Yet, there’s another benefit which may surprise you. Depending on location, regulations give us flexibility to provide support for infrastructure development. Put simply, there’s potential for us to help you fund your project.

When you pay less for your utilities network, you can put more money into creating a superb development.

Just like Riverside Museum itself. Our responsive approach aims to give you the flexibility to deliver your project safely, on time, and on budget.
