The price your business pays for energy is made up of two groups of charges:
- The wholesale price for each unit of gas and electricity you use, which is affected by changes in the energy market.
- Other charges known as non-commodity costs, which are set by third parties.
Non-commodity costs include charges for transporting electricity, government renewable energy initiatives and systems to ensure supply always matches demand.
Suppliers forecast future wholesale prices and non-commodity costs. But the actual rates can vary, and suppliers can pass these changes on to customers.
With SSE Protect, we not only fix your wholesale prices, but also protect you from any rises in existing non-commodity costs. With prices fixed from the outset, you can budget with certainty for the duration of your contract.
