Paul Mitchell, Heather Simpson, Laura Murphy, Hollie Platt, and Claire Aitken, five volunteers from SSE Energy Solutions Smart Buildings team, embarked on a day of service at the Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow, where they undertook the task of revitalising the hospice's outdoor gardens. Recognising the profound impact that well-maintained outdoor spaces can have on the well-being of patients, families, friends, and staff, the team approached their volunteering with enthusiasm and purpose.
Their collective effort was not only about tidying the walkways into and around the building and garden, it was also aimed at creating a welcoming and tranquil environment for individuals facing challenging circumstances. The gardens at Marie Curie Hospice serve as more than just aesthetically pleasing landscapes; they are sanctuaries where patients find moments of peace, where families gather for respite, and where staff members seek solace amidst their tireless work.
Each member of the team brought their unique skills and qualities to the volunteering effort, contributing to the collective goal of enhancing the hospice's outdoor spaces. By investing their time and energy into this endeavour, the volunteers demonstrated their commitment to supporting the hospice's mission of providing comfort and care to those in need.
The hospice extended its heartfelt gratitude to the team for their exceptional work in maintaining the garden and we were honoured to receive such positive feedback.
